Security
Australia is highly experienced in coordinating and managing all aspects of major special events, including comprehensive security arrangements.
Previous events held in Australia and coordinated by the Australian Government include the 2009 Pacific Island Forum, World Youth Day 2008 and the 2007 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.
Responsibility for security arrangements for CHOGM 2011 is shared between the Australian Government and the Western Australian government in accordance with long standing arrangements.
As with all Guest of Government visits to Australia, the Australian Government is responsible for the provision of appropriate protective security measures for visiting dignitaries. Foreign security officers are not permitted to import or carry firearms or security related equipment in Australia.
Each Head of Government and Foreign Minister will be provided with an appropriate security package.
