Hosted by the Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, Empowering Women to Lead will be held on the eve of the 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

The Prime Minister will lead a panel of distinguished female leaders to discuss how to achieve gender equity in leadership positions across the Commonwealth.

At the Prime Minister’s invitation, the Governor-General of Australia, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, will speak at the event, as will the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Mr Kamalesh Sharma.

The event will promote the important role women play in private and public sector leadership and mark the theme of the Commonwealth in 2011, ‘Women as Agents of Change’.

Empowering Women to Lead will include dinner and a facilitated panel discussion. Members of the audience will be invited to participate in this discussion.
