CHOGM's 'Choggers' Run in City to Surf
Among the thousands of runners pounding the pavement in the City to Surf fun run on 28 August were 18 ‘Choggers’ from the CHOGM Taskforce organising the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October.
The Head of the Taskforce, Terry Crane, said the Chevron City to Surf for Activ was a great way for staff to engage with the city they have fallen in love with.
“Although it’s been hard to leave family and friends back east, the Taskforce has really taken to Perth,” Mr Crane said.
“And when you’re very busy organising the largest ever gathering of world leaders in Australia, it’s been good to make time to train around Swan River and Kings Park for the run.”
The City to Surf is Western Australia’s largest community sporting event.
The 18 runners in the Choggers team entered the 4km and 12km events.
Most of the members of the Taskforce have relocated temporarily to Perth from Canberra to organise CHOGM 2011.
CHOGM 2011 will be held in Perth from Friday 28 October to Sunday 30 October.
